Sinopse

Humans are all familiar with the language of trying. Whether we are trying to do something for the first time or the thousandth time, we can't be sure of the outcome and so we resolve to try. The language is so commonplace that many people will often use the same language with respect to God. "God was trying to teach me a lesson," or "God was trying to do this or that" But can God try? Is it even possible? I believe that to "try" requires either 1) an uncertain outcome, or 2) the possibility of failure. So, I lay out a significant amount of Scripture to make the point clearly that for the all-knowing and all-powerful God of the Bible there are no uncertain outcomes and there is no possibility of failure. Therefore, God cannot try. Not God does not try, but God cannot try. It isn't even an option. Then the rest of the book deals with the implications of this understanding that God always accomplishes what he intends to do. Ultimately, I believe that this strong and biblical understanding of God's sovereignty is one of the greatest causes for joy and peace in the Christian's life, and that is how I end the book.
